2009 Fall Update

It’s been a while since I have updated our site, so I wanted to share some recent news with you all.

First, many of you know that we have been searching for a new house.  This is a perfect time to buy as it is a buyer’s market.  We had been looking off and on for about 6 months and began aggressively searching when we put our current house on the market in May.  I can’t even begin to remember how many houses we looked at, but our Realtor suggested we look at a neighborhood in Hoschton called Trilogy Park.  Our initial reaction was no due to the distance, but when we were having no luck in the area we were looking we decided to try it out.  This was the beginning of June.  Well, the first house we looked at, we walked in and fell in love but couldn’t shake the distance factor.  So, we left and continued our search in the area we were targeting.  After several more weeks of disappointment, we decided to go back to the Trilogy Park house.  To our amazement, it was still on the market.  It was $60,000 below initial asking price and the lowest priced house on a basement in the neighborhood.  That night we made an offer and really thought they would not accept it, but they did and we made some further negotiations.  The entire process was extremely smooth – from financing to purchase.  We officially closed on the house and moved in July 31.

We hired Two Men and a Truck to move our belongings from our 3-bedroom, 2-bath house to our new 5-bedroom 4-bath house with a basement.  We now have about double to triple the amount of room than in our other house and amazingly most of our current stuff fit well in the new house.  We needed to buy a refrigerator which we found at Best Buy and they brought it in on moving day. Of recent, Karen has been so excited about the new house and furnishing it that I don’t think I have once heard her refer to the old house.  I guess she moved on pretty quickly!  🙂

On September 15, Karen and I celebrated our 8th Anniversary.  We dropped Jonathan off at Grandpa & Grandma Hay’s and we went out to have some fun together.  We ate Thai and did a couple of games of bowling.  It was nice to do something a bit different.

Jonathan is growing so quickly and loves his new home where he has lots of room to crawl and make noise.  He has had several play dates during this season and just loves any opportunity to get out and learn new things.  I have a new video of him from July to mid October along with lots of pictures during that time.  Enjoy!
