Words from Grandma Hay’s Obituary

Below are some quotes taken from the obituary for Grandma Hay that share the legacy and impact she had on our lives.

Grandma loves me so much she made me Cookies! Boy do I love those Gingerbread men! Every time I think of them I will be remind that I had a special Grandma that loved me and I loved her!! — Michelle Lolies (Granddaughter)

Grandma Hay was to us all a great example – a true legacy of honesty, hard work, steadfastness, and endurance. We loved Grandma and plan to see her again in Heaven. — Tim Lolies (Grandson-in-law)

I loved the way my Grandmother laughed. I will miss her more than I can express in a few words. I loved going to see her. She always made my favorite things and she always had Heresy Syrup in her refrigerator for my milk. She had a way of letting you know that you were special to her without saying it. She would challenge me to explore and to try new things. She’d let me come stay with her so that I could visit the beach when I didn’t have money. 🙂 She was a “rock” in my life. She was someone that I knew would always be there for me. The world was a better place because of her. I love her, and her passing has left a void in my life. — Brenda Davidson (Granddaughter)

Mom Hay was a special and classy lady. Her English heritage always came through. I could never have asked for a better mother in law. She was my friend, encourager, and champion. I shall miss picking up the phone just to talk and pray with her. She had a quiet walk with the Lord. She would ask for guidance and he would slip the answer into her mind. She would act on it and get excited just to see the outcome. Thank you Mom for all you did. — Lynda Hay (Daughter-in-law)

My Grandma was very caring, concerned and special person. When I was young, she always had cookies for me. I could only have two cookies when I was visiting her. One day when I had grown up, I sometimes took more than one cookie. When she questioned me, I told her I was an adult and could eat more than two cookies and laughed. She thought that was funny and laughed with me. When I was visiting or staying with her, we went walking and she held on to me most of the time. We played games like cards. She helped me learn the game. I am deaf and taught her some sign language. She learned some signs. We also wrote notes to each other. I felt that she was proud of me and what I am doing in my life. — Robert Steward (Grandson)
