Marriage Proposal

Below is an edited video of me proposing to Karen. Basically, the day went like this.

Back in 2001, on April 12, I surprised Karen where she was student teaching with a dozen yellow roses. I worked it out with her teacher in advance to pick her up early. Now began a scavenger hunt with written cards of clues of destinations that were significant to us. The first clue led us to Vine’s Botanical Garden where we enjoyed the gardens together and talked about the future. The second clue was time to go home and get ready for dinner out. The third clue was dinner at the Melting Pot. The fourth clue led us to the old Falcon’s practice field (where I first told Karen I loved her). There were a dozen roses under the goal post with a another clue. The fifth clue took us to Rhodes Jordan Park (a special place that we spent time talking together while dating). We sat on a bench that had a clue attached to it. The clue was about music and at that moment from across the lake our song began to play. We drove over to the pavilion where my friend had setup everything and began to video tape. We danced to our song. Then I grabbed a bowl of a dozen flower petals and began to tell Karen all of the reasons why I loved her. I had her begin to remove the petals as I told her these romantic words. Then, we heard a clink. The ring was in the petals. I got down on bended knee and proposed to her. She said yes. I played her a song I wrote for her (that was played in our wedding at the beginning). We enjoyed some sparkling cider and left to tell our parents and show the ring off.
